Freemans is one of the largest and oldest shopping catalogues in the UK, having been founded in 1904 by John Freeman. In 1963 it went public on the stock market and soon expanded overseas. It was then acquired by the Arcadia Group in the 80s, and then by the Otto Group as the Millennium drew near.

Over the years they have successful used celebrity endorsements to promote the brand, including fashion icon Twiggy in the 60s, sitcom star Wendy Craig in the 70s, football presenter Des Lynam in the 90s, and Denise Van Outen in the mid 2000s.
